We decided to check out life outside the city and hopped a bus from Prague to Cesky Krumlov. Fortunately we got the last two seats on the bus; unfortunately they were the back seats on a 3.5-hour bumpy and stuffy ride. But we survived! It dropped us off the Fairytale town of Cesky Krumlov. The town is small enough to walk the entire old town in about 10 minutes. We were pretty excited to spend a few days relaxing and regrouping here! The Vltava River surrounds the town, it curves almost 360 degrees around it with a little stretch to cross over. The castle here is the second largest castle complex in Czech after Prasky Hrad. We found a charming little penzion on the river for two nights with a room that looked out to the castle. This is a magical place.

Here, we were able to enjoy some traditional Czech cuisine like smoked meats, dumplings, and always cabbage. We tried the Slovovice plum brandy after dinner one night. That is a drink that sticks with you!!! Wish we had taken a picture of Mike after that one! We also floated down the Vltava River in tubes and visited the castle. They have levies in the river that everyone takes their raft down like a mini-slide. Looks fun and everyone has a great time doing it. We went down and Amy flips at the bottom, losing tube and shoe! Seems as though everyone in town was on the bridge at that moment to watch the event!!!

At breakfast one day, a table of eight old ladies sat down to order drinks. They had one cappuccino, one coffee, and six pivos (beers)! It is so different to us that beer in Europe is a beverage to be enjoyed with a meal rather than the American view of drinking. People seem to drink all day long here, but still in moderation. So different from our world.
