Tues 13th Oct.

We left home after lunch & travelled down to Watford, on the outskirts of London, where we stayed overnight with our friends Bill& Angela. Bill, being a comedian, took us to a Chinese restaurant for dinner that evening.

Weds. 14th Oct.

We got our own back on Bill though as he had offered to drive us to the airport. Our flight not due to take off till 8.40am but we didn't want to risk getting caught up on the M25 so we were up at 4.30am to get to Heathrow airport for the initial flight to Amsterdam. As it was we got there in plenty of time for breakfast at the airport before the usual immigration & security checks.

It was only a short flight to Schipol airport in Holland, followed by a four hour wait, before the onward flight to Beijing on China Southern Airline. This plane was an Airbus 380, the new monster of airlines, a double-decker carrying over 500 passengers, very impressive. The flight time to Beijing was nine & a quarter hours but we a great selection of films on the seat back entertainment system. I watched four films as we flew through, the night landing in Beijing at 6.30am local time (12.30am in UK).
