We have been looking forward to this day for some time.
When you grow up with your cousins as playmates, you tend to remain friends for the rest of your life. That is the reason it is such a pleasant experience to spend time in the company of these good people.
My Uncle Bill & Aunt Betty were also attending this small reunion, so that added to the joy of the day. My Uncle Bill was always a hero in my book, serving in Italy and North Africa during WWII, he was captured by the Germans and spent 13 days in captivity before escaping and finding his way back to the American lines. He is now the only surviving sibling of the seven children of my Grandparents. Now 92 years young, he isn’t as active as he used to be but is always good company.
All of my cousins and their spouses are wonderful people, and part of a family we love so much.
Our daughter, Jennifer, son-in-law, Steve, and the two Grandchildren, all joined in the fun as we met at a favorite place called “The Catfish Place”.
They serve a wonderful buffet lunch on Sundays, and we all joined in lively conversation, lots of laughter, and the enjoyment of the delicious food.
Once we had eaten our fill, to the max, we adjourned to the awesome weather of a beautiful fall afternoon.
Steve and Colby went fishing for some time, while the rest of us continued the lively conversation, with lots of teasing and laughter.
It was a wonderful day, and we hope to meet again next spring after we return from our winter in Texas.
All I can say after that sort of day is that Life is Good!
