This morning I was up bright and early so I could get Daisy to her “doctor’s” appointment on time. Since there was the possibility of needing to spend the night there, I put some water in the fresh water tank so I could shower tomorrow morning.
I arrived in Buda at Austin’s Automotive Specialists on schedule. They were able to start to work right away. Manager Tom showed me how the caliper had frozen and the wear that it had caused to the rotor. They replaced the pads, rotors and calipers and flushed and bled the complete system. The job took only about four hours. I almost had cardiac arrest when I learned the cost: $1,327.48. I’ll just have to think of it as insurance against a catastrophe if the brakes should completely fail. There was a noticeable difference in the way the motorhome handled after these repairs.
By about 2:00 o’clock I was on my way to Fredericksburg. I paused in Johnson City to call Cousin Maxie in Fredericksburg to see if she felt like having dinner with me tonight. Unfortunately, she was unable to do so. She has a stress fracture in one of her feet and is having to take physical therapy and do special exercises twice a day. This just about wipes her out, so she has to get extra rest. All we could do is visit over the phone for a few minutes. I was really sorry to learn of her painful ordeal.
Farther down the road I called Oakwood RV Park to make sure they could set me up for an extra night tonight. Annette Dean had also arrived early and had just returned from a grocery shopping trip as I was getting set up in my site. We ate dinner at Friedhelm’s Bavarian Inn, one of my favorite restaurants in Fredericksburg. Then we went to Walmart to get a few things, including turmeric. I also found some holding tank treatment, Rid-X, that I had been wanting to try.
