Donner Lake

Curious squirrel

Donner Summit Bridge

Rock climber

There were frequent (and long!) trains passing thru, even at night but a beautiful sunrise over the mountain. Campsite include a fearless, bushy squirrel and birds perched in nearby tree. Back on the road to Donner Pass. State Park Museum there was very interesting and draws a crowd. Continued on Donner Pass Road, past lovely lake, more winding road, then to Rainbow bridge. There were many people on bicycles climbing the hilly road in groups and singles. While we were checking out bridge, a female rock climber appeared over edge and starting coiling up her ropes! Back toward Pacerville again then on toward Yosemite. We Crossed American River which looked like a popular spot for swimming, etc. Stopped for lunch at Summit Gold Park. Found Good Same Park in Columbia which has marble quarry adjacent and is next to old mining town that has been restored.
