Ron and Barbara's Great American Adventure travel blog

Back on I 5 and drive thru Portland not so bad. Stopped at McMinnville Lowes to replace stolen fan. Stopped at roadside stand in country for veggies and ice. (They had several types of squash I have never seen before). To West Coast/Lincoln City and found all state parks full. We continued to drive along the coast line which was beautiful until we happened on a US Forest Service campground (no hook ups, no showers, not on my map) Our site was large, near toilet, however, and right next to a bold creek. Fires were allowed here so we bought firewood and had hot dogs and marshmallows for dinner! We walked up to the highway the next morning and picked blackberries on the way. The campground creek empties into the Pacific Ocean under the main highway and you have to walk thru the creek and under the bridge to get to the beach.
