Got the Shuttle across mid afternoon on Saturday 5th, went straight to Calais Wine to stock up with beer then onto the Aire at Coquelle which we know is safe. Incident free night then started south on our usual route; roads very quiet, it's Sunday - no lorries allowed - had a good run to south of Alencon, an Aire at Fresnay-sur-Sarthe, in old station car park on edge of the small town. Quiet, safe, another 4 mhomes joined us. Monday we went thru Rouen, stopped for lunch and made decision to head for Toulouse then Andorra. So we won't be calling at Le Bois De Chaudron this time, instead we go thru Tours then the Natural Parc of Brenne.
We didn't go thru, we stopped 2 days, gorgeous area, about 60sq mls unspoilt countryside with a few tiny villages, a few cows and goats and lots of water from tiny ponds to huge lakes, teeming with water birds. By chance we passed a campsite and thought that'll do, at Rosnay, very nice, quiet, edge of lake, very cheap, dog friendly. Wondered why no one has parked where we did, facing the island in the lake, very pretty. In the night we found out why, Blue padded up and down all night as every time an acorn fell it hit the roof hard and frightened him! Didn't bother us as it was the front end that was under the tree! Poor Blue, we moved back a bit on Tuesday morning.
Drove the Smartie around the area and walked a few of the permitted routes, saw teal, great white egrets, little egrets, kingfisher, lapwings among the many birds. Lunch in car right by the water, then feet up in the sunshine with a cuppie when we got back to the Lady. Bliss.
