Great walkways through Plivice National Park

Water water everywhere

Wow!

We entered the park first thing in the morning and spent 5 hours walking through the most spectacular scenery ever. A series of several lakes, each fed by numerous waterfalls dropping down several hundred meters - with gravel and wooden pathways down the sides and even across the waterfalls and aound the lakes. A bus took us to the top of the first lake, then after a 90 minute walk we reached another lake where a boat took us across, then another walk and finally a bus back up to the beginning.

It was gobsmackingly beautiful and worth every cent of the NZD20 each.

Tuesday 30 Aug. Left the next morning and drove out of the mountains. All the villages we passed through were involved in the recent war - there are bullet holes in 80% of the houses, with many having been abandoned. Lots of new houses have been built alongside the damaged ones. Came down towards the sea and stopped at Volosko near Rijeka, another private house with rooms for rent, overlooking the sea.
