Jumbo Restaurant

Eight Course Meal

On July 28, 2015 we were scheduled to visit Shenzhen, China on a tour but the evening before we received a call from the tour company telling us that one of our visas could not be granted so our trip was cancelled. Instead of this China tour we opted for a night tour of HK instead. We traveled around Victoria harbor on a boat ride and went to mid-levels in the evening. The highlight was a meal at the Jumbo Floating Restaurant.

JUMBO FLOATING RESTAURANT - Aberdeen, Hong Kong Island

This long-standing tourist attraction is located in Aberdeen on Hong Kong Island. I had heard that seafood dinners at the Jumbo restaurant are extravagant and expensive affairs and we were in for an eight course meal. The Jumbo Restaurant is an oversized restaurant looking like a Chinese palace with many levels. Although it is very ornate on the outside, the interior has a contemporary, modern look to it. The windows inside the restaurant are great for looking out at the sampans and boat homes in the harbor, although there seems to be too many boats crowding the harbor these days. While waiting for the food, diners can put on traditional robe of emperor or empress for HKD 50 upwards to have a professional photographer snap a souvenir keepsake photo.
