Larry & Lee Ann's Journey travel blog

Larry, working on Mom's swamp cooler. She'll need it this summer!

Traveling US 93A...

Pretty colors & view off to my right...

So sad, wonder why they lost control? Prayers going out for all...

Salt Lake Flats way off to my right...

Almost looks like the ocean in spots!

Looks like a storm might be ahead...Almost to Wendover

We've arrived in Wendover. We were going to dry camp but discovered...

Will elaborate more in my next post in case this might be...

Well, it was time to say goodbye to Mom & get on the road again. We did install both her swamp cooler & her window cooler while visiting this past week which is a good thing as they are having unusually warm temps for this time of the year. We tried to talk her into going with us for a bit but she ultimately decided she didn't want to deal with the Las Vegas airport coming back home. Perhaps she'll change her mind & fly into Rapid City later on this summer. We know she would thoroughly enjoy herself in the Black Hills.

After dumping our tanks & fueling we started out headed to Delta, Utah. But the GPS kept trying to turn us around, insisting that it is closer to come through Wendover, Nevada and then cross the state line into Salt Lake City, Utah. After a bit of discussion we decided to do just that & turned around to travel US 93A, arriving in Wendover about 5pm. Had a slight delay with a scary looking crash off to our right about half way. They had traffic stopped (us & one other truck) while they were clearing debris off the road. Oh my, prayers going out for that driver/passengers. Sure hope they had their seat belts on!

The sun bobbed in & out all day, making the Salt Lake Flats look almost like an ocean in places. Looking forward to better shots tomorrow as we make our way through Utah & into Cheyenne, Wyoming. Feels good to be on the road again!
