Caught the train to Lund, Sweden tthis morning. My friends, Joel and Sarah, met us at the train station. What a great day! Coffee at a Swedish coffee house! Wandering through the 11th Century Cathedral! The church had a fascinating crypt in the basement. Hm. I wonder if I can convince the seminary to bury me in the crypt of the new building. Finn, the Giant, is holding up one of the pillars of the crypt. His wife, Gerda, holds their child as she holds up another pillar. Hm.
We saw this Kulture "museum" that housed historic artifacts...like a bunch of skulls that I suppose were collected by Vikings. Not sure what they did with rest of their conquered peoples. The grounds of the museum include a village of a number of houses dating back several hundred years. Sod roofs. Coolio little wooden 18th Century church.
We ended the day at Joel's parent's (Ingmar and Ann-Sophi) in Looma. Joel and his mom fixed us a wall-eye in dill, cream, and horseradish. We sat in the sun room and chatted while Joel and Sarah's kids played. Lily, their oldest, has become quite an artist for a 6 year old; she shared her art work with us. Levi, their 2 year old, was pretty impressed with the big-wheel I brought him. The baby just slept. This is real Sweden.
