This morning we didn't have to leave the hotel until 7.45am which was nice and civilised. We left Rome and drove to Orvietto, a picturesque little town with an enormous and beautiful church. We caught the funicular up the steep mountain and then a shuttle bus the rest of the way to the top. We had time to wander the streets and have another pasta lunch and then it was off to Tuscany and our stay for 2 nights - Montecantini. Our hotel is so nice and it looks like all the rooms have just finished being renovated. We have a bedroom and lounge room and a monsoon shower!!
We had free time this afternoon to wander the streets and then we went to a Tuscan farm dinner with musicians. On the farm they grow their own olives and grapes which they make into olive oil and wine. We had about 5 courses and there was about 5 different wines on the table as well as cianti and grappa. When dessert was brought out (Tirimisu) we got one to share with a candle in it because we are on our honeymoon and another couple are on their 30th wedding anniversay. Then Elizabetta made us and Bob and Jo dance together and everyone formed a circle around us and was cheering. It was quite embarrassing but nice at the same time. It certainly was a noisy bus trip back!
