|Mon, 04 May: Westward Ho!
Following a wonderful long weekend in Ogden visiting with niece Stacy, grand niece Chandler, and grand nephew Travis it is time to continue our trek. Recall, if you will, we are booked on a cruise departing Seattle the twenty-ninth and our "hard date" is to be there then. These next three plus weeks are all part of a (not very well defined) plan to accomplish that.
We took our time getting ready to roll but still managed to do so shortly after nine. After departing Wasatch View RV park Sandi drove a whopping four tenths of a mile to the nearby Maverick filling station for a tank of diesel. The price is OK but the big attraction is their separate (and large) RV fuel lanes. Too bad they didn't have high capacity nozzles as it took Bob twenty minutes to pump the seventy gallons Carpe needed.
We finally hit the Interstate (15/84) at 0940 and headed north. Some thirty miles north of Ogden I 84 and I 15 part ways, with I 15 continuing north to the Alberta border and I 84 heading west. We opted for west.
We crossed into Idaho and broke for lunch at a rest stop. Switching drivers Bob continued west thru the hills to our present location at the Mountain Home Idaho Wal*Mart. We'll be "guests" of Wal*Mart overnite, and we must note that the folks at this store couldn't be friendlier.
Today's run was all Interstate, 84 all the way. We logged 252 miles and averaged a very welcome 9¼ mpg.
Tomorrow is planned to be another long (250ish mile) day to east-central Oregon.
