This morning at the VC, there was one visitor! When we ate lunch early and were ready to take our break outdoors, the visitors arrived, wouldn’t you know?? So we waited a little for them all to leave and then walked down to the boardwalk – only the boardwalk onto Lake Anahuac was inaccessible because the lake level had risen so high. It was still a beautiful walk.

There were more visitors this afternoon, though we had very skimpy sales. We spent much of the day studying for our positions at Voyageurs NP and learned a LOT. There is some really interesting history, especially in the fur trade. When it was time to close, again there were people in, so we were late closing.

Dinner was grilled chicken with steamed broccoli in a cheese sauce. We did not buy the broccoli crowns this time, but the full heads, and they have not blossomed. It is pouring again, and the thunder just cracked. There is LOTS of rain in these parts, and the bayous are all flooding, as well as the fields are standing water. It makes great habitat for shorebirds, but not good for the rice farmers.
