Obie

Sheila and Obie

He is just frickin' HUGE!

Interesting wood horse sculptures at the Mississippi Welcome Center.

And I got to hug Elvis! And he talked to me!

As I was walking to the dumpsters to get rid of the trash before we departed this morning, I saw a HUGE dog at one of the sites and decided to stop and meet him/her. It was Obie, a Great Pyrenees. He is nine years old and his owners got him when he was just a little fluff ball and never thought he'd get as big as he did. Sweet as could be, but so much fur!! I asked if I could take a picture of him, and his owners offered to take a picture of me with Obie. I have never seen such a big dog!!!

We left Gulf Shores at 12:30pm expecting a 3 1/2-hour drive to Baton Rouge, but we didn't get there until almost 6pm...almost two hours longer than expected because of traffic (spring break and the weekend), construction and accidents. This reinforces our desire to only plan on driving ~200-250 miles per day, because you never know what you'll encounter along the way that will cause delays. Arrived at the Baton Rouge KOA and are planning our next stop with the Sullivans as I type. :)
