Words can't describe the joy I felt as I pulled my toothbrush out of my backpack and cleaned off 40+ hours of teeth fur. Rookie error to put that in checked luggage, particularly when my luggage has been lost more times than I can remember over the years...including this time. it always turns up eventually though and it's arrived back with me this morning in time to join me onto my Camino starting point of St John Pied de Port today.
9 hours to Hong Kong, 5 hour stopover, another 13 hours to Paris and I'm almost there...
Since when can you charge a phone in your cattle class seat? Or connect your iPad to the in flight entertainment? And get fed? Free alcohol? Blankets? The list goes on. I guess the answer probably lies with booking with points on Qantas rather than my usual choice of carrier: Scoot and Air Asia pick up your game!
My backpack weighs in at a smidgen under 10kg, but that's without food,or water. I can carry the weight no problem but wondering if it might be kinder to my feet to ditch the idea of camping along the way and post my tent and thermarest ahead to Santiago. Decisions for another day me thinks.
I spent my last night in a little bit of luxury in a funky hotel by the airport before I fly south, get my Pilgrim's passport and become a peregrino!!
Aghhhhhh so freaking excited...and no idea what to expect.
Now might be a good time to mention I haven't brought a guide book or map...(so I make no claim as to the accuracy of any information I pass on from this point forth, never let truth get in the way of a good story I say!)
