|Up at 4am for early breakfast before moving round to the departure area. A French security officer actually came inside Elsie to check for illegals, the first time we've had this done. Even checked under the bed & in the washroom.
The crossing was nice & smooth & we disembarked at 7.15am(UK time) & headed straight up the motorway to the Dartford crossing. I have Dart account so the crossing toll is automatically deducted from my account as we pass through the barriers, no need to stop & pay like previously. We were back in Lowestoft in time to fill up at ASDA with diesel & food supplies before lunch at home. Then it was just a case of unloading Elsie & preparing to meet the grandchildren out of school at 3.30pm.
A successful trip all round although the weather had not proved as sunny & warm as I had hoped, hence the fact that we didn't stop long anywhere & got home a bit earlier than we had planned originally. I think next year, after Xmas, we will look at renting a villa back in The Villages in Florida where we know the weather will be nice & sunny. Then I will look at doing the planned trips to Greece & then Turkey in the Spring or Autumn in order to get better weather. Never mind we enjoyed ourselves & apart from the problem with Ethel & the one night when the heater wouldn't light everything worked fine.
Hope we gave you a taste of life on the road, all our best wishes to you & yours till the next time.
Tom & Vivien Tucker
