Heading to the East! travel blog

Sadly we left New Orleans this morning. We had a lot of fun here. We had one stop today on our way to Beaumont. We are stopping near Henderson at a seafood market to get some fresh gulf shrimp and some crawfish.

As we went through Bayou country we kept seeing these signs advertising Boudin and cracklings. I knew what cracklings were but what the heck is Boudin? When we stopped at the Seafood store, I found out. They sold Boudin there. It is seasoned pork, rice, onions, celery, parsley, encased loosely in a pork casing, and made into a sausage. (They call it Cajun Fast food!) So I bought a couple of pieces along with my shrimp and crawfish. It is served hot, and Spike and I ate one of them right away for lunch. It was really good! Not overly spicy, just hot and yummy. And Zoey thought she should have the other piece.

Anyway we made it to Beaumont safely and are staying at Gulf Coast Rv resort. It is a passport America campground.
