The Flynn Tasmanian Tour 2014 travel blog

Early start and nice walk to the Strahan Esplanade where we caught the 'Eagle' ferry cat for a 6 hour cruise. A beautiful boat with great seats and views that travelled at about 50 km/h and did over 150 kms for the day! We cruised out to Hell's Gate which is a 75m opening that separates the enormous Macquarie Harbour from the open seas. Back to Sarah Island - a now pretty island with a terrible past as an isolated convict camp. We also had a visit to a aquaculture site in the harbour before lunch and a leisurely ride up the large Gordon River. A ride back to a saw mill at departure. We walked to the lolly shop to grab an ice-cream before the 20 minute walk back to the caravan park.
