The Flynn Tasmanian Tour 2014 travel blog

A leisurely start this morning and some wrong turns before finding the shopping centre in Devenport to do some much needed shopping. Then onto the Bass Strait Maritime museum which housed some wonderful displays and model ships. The boys really enjoyed the ship simulator where they could select different levels of steering a ship through the harbour. They really enjoyed this.

We had lunch at the Don River Railway park (which is basically part of Devenport)and then visited the rail museum and workshops before taking a 1944 rail motor ride along the banks of the Don River. The boys enjoyed blowing the horn.

On the way to Launceston we stopped off at the Axeman's Hall of Fame in LaTrobe. Here there are video and static displays about the world champion axeman of Australia. The poles holding the building up are each made of a different tree.

On the way to Launceston we had some showers of rain and overcast weather - welcome to Tasmania! Along the way we saw plenty of poppies growing - opium drug for the large pharmacy companies for medicinal purposes. Very pretty though!

We then had a dispute with the Tom Tom who we though had sent us to the wrong caravan park but in fact the caravan park had a change of name!!!
