KAPOORS ON THE ROAD

I didn’t realize that it was All Saints Day until we left Randazzo and drove past a large cemetery. People were parking their cars along the road, stopping to purchase flowers from the several vendors that had set up outside the cemetery gates, and streaming into the grounds to visit the graves of their loved ones.

It seems that it is almost obligatory for religious people to make a point to visit the graves of their ancestors on All Saints Day. This is not the first time we’d encountered this custom. For instance, I know that November 1st is called ‘The Day of the Dead’ in Mexico.
