After leaving Nain we headed towards Kalbarri travelling on 50 kilometres of dirt road before reaching the bitctamen. Unfortunately we lost one of our extended caravan mirrors whilst driving on the dirt, I saw it fall off but the caravan must have run over it when it hit the ground as it was smashed.

Our bad luck didn't end there, we had a caravan tyre blowout not long after we had started on the bitchamen. It was an explosive sound and I saw in my side mirror the remains of the tyre rolling down the road. Pete had it all under control and pulled over, I was so glad he was driving. I walked back to check the scene where it happened, there were chunks of rubber all over the road and the smell of burning rubber was so strong. I cleared the hot rubber from the road but couldn't find the remains of the tyre that I saw rolling down the road, it must have gone bush.

Pete was able to put the spare tyre on but it wasn't easy due to where he had to pull off the road. We once again thanked our lucky stars that the blowout didn't cause us to have a bad accident. Once we reached Kalbari Pete went and saw the tyre man while I got de stressed with some retail therapy.

We decided to visit Kalbarri National Park, I went in 2010 on a tour but Pete didn't so I went again. It's a great park and easily accessible, we visited the Z Bend, the Loop and Nature's Window. We walked about 4 kilometres in total and saw some amazing gorges and rock formations. We stopped on the way back to take some more photos of wild flowers. Some are so tiny but really beautiful, apparently the peak of the season has passed even though we saw lots.

The cliffs south of Kalbarri township are really spectacular and are a must for us tourist so for the third time we went out for a look. We actually saw a guy catch a large fish off the rocks, that was pretty spectacular as we haven't had that much luck so far.

I heard some rain drops on the roof the first night in town. Pete slept through it and now says I was dreaming. Other campers must have been having the same dream. We haven't seen rain since we left home (we think) and I'm not looking forward to it as the leak Pete fixed was on my side where I sleep.

We really enjoyed our three days in Kalbarri even if we didn't get a chance to throw a line in, better luck down the road. Lucky for us the wind wasn't extreme for our stay making it very pleasant. Pete received a hair cut which tidied him up somewhat as he was looking a bit feral, mine will be next. You may notice my fancy work with the wild flowers photo, well my lovely daughter Casey put me onto an easy to use app so there may be more treats coming up in the photo department.
