Today Carl came up from Houston to visit me for a few hours. It was a bit surprising because he usually comes on Saturday. We drove down to San Marcos to visit Dick’s Classic Garage Car Museum, owned by Dick Burdick (www.DicksClassicGarage.com). The vintage, classic and rare cars range from 1919 to 1959 models. Carl is especially fond of cars made during that time. All the cars are American-made, including those by the Detroit giants, as well as some companies that tried but failed. Not all his cars are on display at any one time; they are rotated from time to time. All the classic cars are original and are maintained in pristine condition. One of the most interesting exhibits is the 50th Tucker (of only 51 made). It has never been driven because it has less than one mile on the odometer. I was a bit frustrated in my attempts to get good pictures because of the chains around the displays, even though I can understand why they are there.

By the time we had finished our tour of the museum, it was about time for dinner; so we headed back to Austin to eat at the Salt Grass restaurant. After dinner Carl helped me with a few little chores that required bending (which I’m still not supposed to do).
