Goodbye to Serra Dos Tucanos, On to Iguassu
We spent most of the morning watching trogons and tanagers next to the pool at Serra Dos Tucanos. We even had a couple new species without even leaving the patio furniture.
Our transfer to the Rio airport, flight to Iguassu, and transfer to the Belmond Hotel das Cataratas all went without problems except for the hotel insisting we had reservations for three rooms, not two! This will easily be the most expensive hotel stay ever for Dave and Marilyn-- a couple stars above a stay in the Trail Manor.
After checking in to this fabulous hotel, we went to dinner at the only restaurant available. The cost for the buffet was R$140 per person (approximately US$ 70 per person. Shortly after dinner began, the skies opened up and poured for several hours and on into the night. No idea how much rain fell.
The focus here at Iguassu Falls will switch to viewing the famous and EXPANSIVE falls from the 3 weeks we've spent viewing wildlife/birds.
