Ed & Marilyn 'The Happy Wanderers' travel blog

The rain pounding on the roof of the RV woke me around 2:00 this morning. I could see the flash of lightning through my closed eyelids, as the crash of thunder tried to drown the roar of the rain.

The next time I glanced at the clock, it was time to get up and face the day.

Wanting to give Marilyn a bit more rest, I dressed to give tours, then drove to Palmyra to meet our daughter and pick up Lauren.

When we returned to the RV, we ran to the door and the shelter from the steady rain.

I decided against walking to work and drove the car.

I hoped that the tours of Cameron Cave would have been cancelled due to the ¼ mile walk each way, going to and from the entrance.

There was no respite so I drove back home to put on hiking boots and to grab an umbrella.

So far we have received nearly 6” of rain since yesterday morning.

The busses carrying 110 fifth grade students arrived pretty much on time, and the walk in the rain wasn’t too bad, even though a couple of young girls talked me into loaning them the umbrella.

The tour went just fine.

Back at the RV, Marilyn heated some left-over soup for lunch and it wasn’t long before Lauren fell asleep.

Around 3:00 we left for Palmyra again, to return Lauren to her Mommy. We talked for a few minutes about plans for tomorrow.

We have a busy day of being caretakers for the grandkids.

However, as for today, we are going to have a light dinner and relax. Our time to head for the Valley is growing nearer every day.

Life is Good!!
