October 2nd We got up at 7:30 this morning. We had a good breakfast and got underway to take the 60 bus to the Notre Dame de la Garde Basilica, We took in amazing views of the city on a beautiful clear Thursday morning. Again ideal weather conditions for sightseeing today. The Basilica was built in the 1500 and took almost 100 years to complete, During the German occupation it was used as a strategic location because of its location, the highest in the city overlooking Marseille at 360 degrees. We took some amazing photos of the city and we could also see our ship which arrived this morning, On the way back we stopped for a capuccino but although I enjoyed mine Patricia has had considerable difficulty finding a coffee to her liking. This is the last entry until we get to our ship. It is now noon and we have to check out. We are going to go for a last short stroll before taking a taxi to the ship. Ciao for now.

We boarded the ship at 1pm. We were sent to the 13th floor cafeteria since our cabin will not be ready before 2pm. We came to our cabin at 2pm but our luggage has yet to get here. I can"t wait as I have been wearing the same shirt for a while. While we waited we went for a stroll on the promenade and pool decks. We have to meet for orientation on deck 4 at the Giancarlo theatre at 4:30pm and then go look into tomorrow"s excursion to Portofino.

We attended the orientation which explained some of the boat's features and we familiarized ourselves with the ship. At 5:30 we attended a short seminar which showed us what to do and where to go in the event of emergency. We went back to the cabin to unpack. It took almost as long as packIng. We have our assigned seating at table 709 at the il Palladio dining room. we are about to get ready for that.
