Beltons prepare to get underway.

Rendezvous at I-64 mm 213 rest area.

Cocktails

We caught up with Jean and Dave at the mm 213 rest area. After a brief pit stop and photo op, we headed west on I-64. We needed to refuel before hitting W. Va and decided on the Pilot Service Center on I-81/64. Dave and Jean had told us they were really looking forward to this extended trip with two old camping pros like us. So on our first refueling we led them on a merry-go-round trying to approach the diesel pumps in a not-RV-friendly station. We finally accomplished the refueling but there was no place to park the rigs for our lunch break....so further down the road we found another rest area. About 3 pm we were approaching Lewisburg and our first camping destination. Again, we were leading the way...relying on Miss Garmin to whom we had given the GPS co-ordinates. She led us down a narrow lane that kept getting more narrow...hoping we would not meet any oncoming traffic. When she announced that we should "proceed 1/4 mile then continue off-road" we knew we were in trouble. Mark spotted a small apartment complex with a good sized parking lot and told me to pull in before we got ourselves in a situation we couldn't get out of. Dave and Jean pulled in along side us. We called the campground and the lady told us how to get there...just a mile farther down the highway before Garmin told us to turn off. Again we led the Beltons on a merry chase, first trying to find the entrance to the campgrounds...finally found it, wrong campground. We belonged across the road...the lady got into Dave's truck to make sure we found our way. Needless to say, we enjoyed the cocktail hour more than usual that evening. Surely tomorrow will go more smoothly?!?
