It’s about an hour from our house to Lake Cushman on a scenic drive north of Olympia on Highway 101. In Hoodsport, a small town on Hwy. 101 and alongside Hood Canal, we drove up the hill several miles to the Lake Cushman Resort. The resort has quite a few campsites on the lake shore. About a dozen of those sites have electric and water hook-ups.
Our friends John and Terri, who are from Southern California, followed us into the campground with their travel trailer. There we camped next to Panorama friends Bud and Judy, who’d been there since the previous week-end with family.
Because the resort didn’t rent one of the sites, we had plenty of space side-to-side. The camp-fire area of Bud and Judy’s site #1 had a nice view of the lake. That’s where we gathered for conversation, reading, and camp-fires.
One afternoon Panorama friends Paul and Sue drove-in for Happy Hour. The next afternoon Panorama friends Chuck and Jean were there for Happy Hour(s). Both couples are always enjoyable.
A mid-morning grocery run down into Hoodsport also meant a required stop at a local coffee and ice-cream joint. There we had delicious Olympic brand ice-cream! Yummy! It's a local favorite!
That afternoon we boarded Bud & Judy’s boat and slowly motored up-lake. What an enjoyable time.
Twice John and I put our inflatable kayaks into the lake and explored the shore-line. The first of those two times Terri was in the kayak with John. We were certainly intrepid explorers.
Neither Mary Anne nor I took any photos during this camping trip.
