We made a hasty get away from Lima, as we had planned, due to it not being entirely safe for gringos (just noticed the anagram with Grigson!). Our friends Tom and Emma that we met whilst climbing Cotopaxi in Ecuador had been mugged there during the day a few weeks earlier, not hurt but lost everything!
Every bus journey seems to make you endure at least one discomfort, this time it was a unpleasent smell again, something between baby poop and cabbage. Oh, and a chicken clucking ocasionally from up the front of the bus somewhere. Louise swore she could smell egg at one point! On the positive side the views of the coast were spectacular in places.
Our place in Pisco is really nice, its a small complex which houses a pool, games room (pool, table tennis, foozball etc), and a laundry, all gratis. Just as well because our clothes are nearly ready to start walking by themselves.
Peru seems nice, a bit more relaxed than Ecuador, although its still our first day so that can change. Everyone seems to be really friendly.
We just ate dinner and Louise was particually happy as the chips she ordered reminded her of her dad's home made speciallity (all that was missing were the fried eggs).
