|We left about 10:00 with overcast sky's and arrived about 2:30 here in Lexington, Virginia at the Lee Hi Truck and Rv stop. Truck stop you say? Not a bad stop. Were sitting on top of the hill rv park and looking down at the all the trucks.
Our drive here was good not much traffic as were use to at home. Not much truck traffic either. We drove I64 east and it was up and down with lots of trees as far as you can see. As we came into Virginia we stopped at the welcome center rest stop. I think is one of the nicest one that we have seen. Got a free sample of Virginia peanuts (didn't know they produce peanuts.) At the stop they said to be sure and check out Lexington, only 3 miles from our stop. So we set up the trailer and a bit of refreshment!
As we got to Lexington you approach you drive pass the Virginia Military Institute (state funded) been there since 1856, after the war Robert E. Lee was it's president until his death. He is buried there along with his family and horse. The current president of college lives in his house.
There is Stonewall Jackson, his home is there and still original. There is so much here won't write all that down. We parked our truck and found the horse carriage tour of the city. Great choice as we got a lot inside info and go a real feel of Lexington. So small and narrow streets which they (citizens for 20+ dug the streets out to somewhat level them)
Tomorrow will be Maryland and our closest park to Wash, DC.
Until next time.
