Ed & Marilyn 'The Happy Wanderers' travel blog

It was eight years ago today, Sept 8th, 2006, that we took delivery of our brand new 2007 Mobile Suites 36TK3.

What an exciting day that was!

My retirement was only a couple of weeks away, our home was sold, and we were preparing to embark on a new adventure.

Now, eight years later, we are still in love with the RV lifestyle, even though we have had a few surprises along the way.

The high point for both of us has been the wonderful friends we have met along the way. Most of these wonderful people have remained friends and it is hard to imagine not being around them as often as possible.

Of course we had many friends before beginning this lifestyle and they also remain close to our heart. We do however, see the RV friends more often as we travel around the country.

It is exciting to anticipate seeing friends, no matter where we travel.

The low point for us was, of course, the fire which destroyed our RV just outside of St Joseph, MO.

Being “Full-Timers” we lost everything.

People sometimes ask us if we thought about giving up the RV life when that happened. The fact is that we talked about it and pondered that question for about 30 seconds before answering an emphatic NO!

We love our life, the ability to spend summers in the mountains, the winters in a warm, tropical, climate, and always be at home and among friends, no matter where we are.

So, we begin our ninth year with the same sense of well being, realizing that we are in the autumn, if not the winter, of our years, and we have no idea how much time we have left to live this lifestyle.

It doesn’t matter much because we’ll continue for as long as we can, and when that day comes that we must hang up the keys, we can look back and say with a smile, that it was a wonderful journey, and we are thankful for the opportunity to experience and enjoy the life God gave us.

For now, all I can say is that Life is Good!
