Great Seafood, Then Ice Cream
Aug 30, 2014
|Our friends, Eddie & Jan, told us about a restaurant they happened to find a few days ago.
It was called “English Dockside Seafood Grill” and is located at 1201 Colorado Blvd in Old Colorado City.
Even though Eddie & Jan bragged about how good the food was at this restaurant, who would take seriously, a seafood eatery in the mountains of Colorado.
Today we found out the truth.
This place wasn’t only good, it was fantastic!
Jesse & Ginger are from Baltimore, Maryland, so they know about seafood and crab dishes in particular. Marilyn & I used to live in Maryland also, and have spent many pleasant hours enjoying steamed crabs and great seafood.
So, today, we drove to town, visited the Farmer’s Market for some fresh goodies, and then followed Eddie & Jan to the restaurant they had told us about.
The place is very nice, comfortable, and well appointed.
We were greeted by the daughter in the family which owns the business, and were seated immediately, at a nice round table for six.
With the encouragement of our friends, Eddie & Jan, we all ordered the Blue Crab Gumbo, except for Ginger, who opted for the Clam Chowder.
Everyone agreed that these dishes were exceptionally tasty, and the garlic bread with a special seasoning added to the enjoyment.
All of us added a “Po Boy” sandwich of Shrimp, or Oysters, or Blue Crab.
Marilyn & I shared the Blue Crab Po’ Boy which was stuffed with lump crab meat, and some tasty sauce. They were all served with Fries, which were also tasty.
The service was excellent and attentive.
All in all, this was a fine experience and our only regret is that we didn’t find this restaurant sooner.
We are leaving next Wednesday. We had planned to leave on Tuesday but the new mattress we ordered will now be delivered on Tuesday.
We stopped at the grocery store on the way back to the RV.
Jesse & Ginger were riding with us and between the two couples, we bought enough groceries to fill the back of our little hatch-back car.
So this fine day winds down. The Ice Cream Social is tonight.
That fine seafood and now, ice cream!
All I can say is that Life is Good!
