8/22/14, Friday I made use of the spa facilities today at the Edelweiss and got a full body Swedish massage. Boy did that feel good!! At noon, we met our new friends, Thomas and Ann, and went to the Eibsee for lunch. The Eibsee is a beautiful lake at the foot of the Zugspitze. There is a very nice restaurant at the side of the lake. We sat and talked for a few hours and just enjoyed the afternoon.

Thomas and Ann headed home (north of Munich) but dropped us off at Marienplatz in downtown Garmisch. This is the pedestrian zone and shopping district of Garmisch. We walked the street, did some shopping, found another model train store and a jewelry store (something for each of us). They were setting up for a foot race from downtown to the top of the Zugspitze. They have a climbing event, trail run, sprint and kid's race scheduled. We got a table in an outdoor café right beside the beginning part of the race and were able to cheer on many of the men and women as they started their marathon.
