|We ported in Kusadasi Turkey (Asia) for our visit to Ephesus. We had scheduled a private tour with our Aussie friends with Ephesus Shuttle. Our guide met us when we exited the ship, and we drove in a nice, air conditioned Mercedes out to Ephesus. Our driver's name was Ferit, and our guide's name was Ilker. Ilker was our favorite guide of the entire trip, and this was one of our favorite excursions. Our first stop was the House of the Virgin Mary where legend says that John brought Mary after the death of Jesus. She lived here until she "went to heaven".
After this stop, we traveled on to Ephesus where we saw the Temple of Artemis, Temple of Hadrian, Library of Celsus, Fountain of Trajan, Ephesus Great Theater, and the Terrace Houses. We returned to port at 12:45, and spent time at an internet cafe before boarding ship at 1:45. Ship sailed at 2:00.
We tried to read up on the deck, but it was crazy windy! Chairs, hats, shoes, cups, etc. were flying everywhere. Most of us gave up and went inside. After dinner, we enjoyed a Cabaret Show in the lounge off Galaxy of the Stars. The four show singers were singing lounge music from the 50's and 60's along with some Michael Buble.
We walked 4.8 miles.
