Ed & Marilyn 'The Happy Wanderers' travel blog

We sure had a nice time with friends today.

Joe & Marilyn live in the Denver area but still have not seen certain parts of this particular portion of Colorado.

So this afternoon was our opportunity to show our friends around.

They had hoped to extend their stay here at Mountaindale, but the campground is full for the remainder of the weekend.

We drove with Joe & Marilyn on board, to the Cheyenne Mountain State Park, where they were able to reserve one of the last available sites at the campground there.

We enjoyed looking around this beautiful campground and it is too bad that they have a limit of two weeks for someone to stay there.

When we left the campground, Joe had his reservation, so we could relax a bit.

We showed our friends the Broadmoor Hotel and the surrounding neighborhood, then drove to Old Colorado City to share a meal of Mexican food at Jorge’s.

The margaritas were excellent as usual and the fact that they were offered two for one made it even better.

The conversation flowed easily, punctuated with laughter, and we all had a fun time together.

We lingered as long as we dared after the fine meal, then followed the ladies to the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory where they each made a purchase.

Joe & Marilyn had never been on the Lower Gold Camp Road before, so we drove there to share one of our favorite experiences.

We enjoyed showing this beautiful part of Colorado to our friends, who seemed to enjoy every minute of the ride.

We stopped several times for photo ops and returned to the RV around 6:30 PM.

Tomorrow we hope to share some coffee time with our friends before they hook up and head off to their new camping spot at Cheyenne Mountain State Park.

If things work out well enough, we may go to the Gooseberry Patch for dinner with Joe & Marilyn tomorrow evening.
