What a day! I now know why Tom Harr and Gus & Gail have always said it is their favorite place on earth! It reminds me of the way the people rebuilt the "old city" of Warsaw and Krakow, before the bombing of World War II, Leslie, using all the pieces from the rubble. That's what they are doing in Ephesus and Perge...using the huge chunks of "what was" they are rebuilding it the way it was! They have mosaics and frescoes to show them the way...granted some of them were found in pieces and had to be puzzled back together, as well! When I grow up, I'm going to be an Archeologist! In the case of Perge, the earthquake devastation wasn't so complete and they saved (uncovered, really) a lot of statues and reliefs!
