Java to Bali Explorer travel blog

Today we took a couple of boats out to Menjangan Island for a snorkeling trip. Pilau menjangan is part of west Bali's National park, established in 1947. A 25 minute boat ride from the shore, this pristine island is renowned for the best coral reef amid marine life in Baii. The area is most famed for huge gorgonians ( sea fans) that can be found clinging to the coral crevices. Pygmy seahorses and morays are often seen in the cracks as well as many other types of marine life: parrot fish ( my favorite), batfish, Titan triggerfish, butterfly fish and even Nemo! ( clown fish) It was an amazing spot to snorkel and the coral was one of the most beautiful I have ever seen!

Later that night, we had the option of taking part in a traditional Balinese feast prepared by a local lady and hosted on the beach. What an experience that was! Wow! We walked down to the beach and after walking along a dark road came to a dimly lighted large table with 15 different dishes! It was sensational to be sitting on this beach with no one around eating different types of local cuisine.
