Swissotel (May 23-24)

At 8,500 ft., the Swissotel was kinder to Anne’s altitude sickness and after she took a well deserved nap, and Tom had a burger lunch, things began to look much better. We had dinner at the hotel in the Japanese restaurant and slept well all night. In the morning we saw the sun glinting on the volcanos across the valley. Both of us felt like unwinding and after breakfast, we scheduled a massage for 3PM. As we walked through the lobby, we spotted a unique Taguarte necklace and earring set. However, because it was a national holiday, the store was closed and we could not buy it. Our massage was wonderful. Dinner had been planned before we even left Webster and we had a reservation at the #1 restaurant in Quito, Zazu. They lived up to their reputation and we headed back to the hotel in a cab before falling asleep early since we had a 7AM pick-up for the airport and the next part of our adventure.
