April 2, 2014 – Aboard Regatta headed to Fortaleza, Brazil
This morning I got up and went to the top deck to walk. I met Dave up there, and we did a couple of laps together although he was almost through just as I began. I had tried to be quiet when I left the cabin, but I woke Patsy up. It took me about 20 minutes to walk a nautical mile (only way they measure it) on the track. When I got back I woke her up again although I again tried to be quiet. I jumped in the shower, and when I was dressed I was ready to go to breakfast. I happened to look at the clock, and it was only 7:15. I thought it had been 7:15 when I went up to exercise, but I had looked at the clock wrong – it was really 6:15. No wonder there weren’t many people exercising!
Patsy had been trying to see the birds which were following the ship but kept missing them. This morning, she went up to the top deck and was able to get a good view of the Masked Booby which has been accompanying the ship since we left Rio.
As we were finishing breakfast, Joyce and Dave walked by, and Joyce suggested to Guto that he should be paid more since he had to put up with me! Nice friends.
After breakfast, we had our 2d – and final – Portuguese lesson. Then, it was time for lunch. It had rained during the night, but we hit a really hard squall while we were having lunch. This is the rainy season here, but I hope it doesn’t rain while we are in port. I did bring a raincoat so I’m prepared, but I’d just as soon not have to use it.
It cleared off in the afternoon, and I sat outside and read. After falling asleep twice on my book, I came inside and took a nap.
Patsy and I met Guto for dinner on the Terrace. Alan joined us for dessert. Afterwards we went to the stage show which featured one of the singers who just happens to be from Oklahoma.
