Bega War Memorial

Bega Cheese Factory and Information Centre

The view of the road between Bega and Cooma

Inside the Cheese Factory

Fred Piper Memprial on the way up Black Mountain

Friday 25th April

Arrived in Bega, the home of Bega Cheese. We could not find out any information of where the Bega Cheese Factory was, so we stopped at a bakery and bought lunch. Then as we were leaving the town, guess what we see "THE CHEESE FACTORY", so we HAVE to go in and have a look, and we also HAVE to by some cheese !!!!

After leaving Bega we went up and over a mountain called Brown Mountain, which is part of the Snowy Mountain Highway, and the view are spectacular, although part of the way up we saw a memorial/lookout to a guy who was a bus driver in the old days (1940/50's) and would drive the bus over the mountain 6 times a week carrying passengers, his last trip ended at this memorial, he got out of the bus to clear snow off the road with a shovel and died on the spot.

Then we headed of towards Cooma as it is close to 3.30pm and I want to get to the information centre to find out about the roads in/over the Snowy Mountains. We didn't stay long or take many photos as we expect to come through here again tomorrow. Just took one of the monument of respect for Banjo Paterson.
