It was a very easy 140 mile drive from Cottonwood south to west Phoenix and finally on Hwy 60 to Brenda and the Desert Gold RV Park. It's a large park with about 550 spaces, many of which are occupied with park models owned by snowbirds. A park model is a very small (< 400 sq ft) mobile home looking item that one typically just parks and leaves it for an annual space rent fee paid to the park. They put us next to our friends the Fosters, who work part-time here . We've been here before, but only for a couple nights, we like this little place. There are many activites to enjoy, for instance, the wonderful overflowing church services, the several music jams thru the week with fabulous talent, others enjoy desert ATV riding, gold panning, desert golf, and much much more. The first night here, we attended the yearly stage production put on by park occupant actors. Wow, was the production funny and so well done. All of the streets are paved in this park, a big advantage, less dust.
On several of our walks around the park we noticed that we are late enough in the season for seeing the cacti flowering. Witnessing all the bloom is just magnificent. We took several pictures of the many variety.
We came here on March 21st for a one month stay, expecting to get so much RV maintenance and care done, not to mention sight seeing. Unfortunately, we both got sick, very sick. First Rebecca got a serious case of sinusitis which we caught before it went into more serious stages. Dave, let his develop into pneumonia,. All this severly limited our getting out and about. We got one trip to Algodones, Mexico for dental cleaning and new glasses before the sickness set in.
