A street view. San Jose is surrounded by mountains

After getting up at 2 a.m., driving to the airport in Ft. Walton Beach, changing planes in Atlanta, we finally arrived in San Jose somewhere around noon Costa Rica time. Easy flights & easy entry through customs. The Road Scholar escort was waiting for us to bring us to the Balmoral Hotel right in the middle of downtown San Jose. We got to ride with another couple who had been on the same flight with us.

Had a good mid afternoon lunch in the hotel dining room & then took a walk with around in the downtown area with some others from the group. The pink amapa trees that we loved in Alamos Mexico are in full bloom everywhere here.

We're calling it an early night to catch up on our sleep & be ready for the tour to begin tomorrow.
