We shared a pot of coffee, but skipped the breakfast offered by the KOA we stayed at last night, and were ready to go a few minutes before 9:00 AM this morning.
We stopped at Big Cabin, where US Hwy 69 meets I-44, and fueled the truck.
That was a full service truck stop, where you pull up to the pump and tell the attendant to “Fill ‘er up”, then take your credit card inside.
They not only fill the tank but clean your windshield, also.
I remember quite well when that was normal, no matter what type of vehicle you drove.
When we hopped on the Interstate, I paid for both the truck and the car, as Marilyn followed right behind me.
It sure felt nice to cross the state line into Missouri.
We almost felt “close to home”. just from being in the same state as our destination.
We are staying overnight at the Coachlight RV Park in between Joplin and Carthage, MO.
We were both hungry by the time we finished setting up, so we drove north to Carthage, MO to a “Sirloin Stockade” and enjoyed the buffet for a late lunch/early dinner.
We are going to get the bed linen changed and get showers, then set out clean clothing for tomorrow. We hope to arrive in Hannibal all clean and fresh. LOL
If all goes well, we will get started around 8:00 in the morning and hope to arrive at the Mark Twain Cave Campground by 2:00 or 2:30 in the afternoon.
That will give us time to do the basic setup and then see the kids and grandkids.
