The sound of thunder greeted us this morning when we awoke.

We sat sipping coffee and checking the weather forecast for our route of travel.

It sure doesn’t look good for travel today as the forecast calls for thunderstorms, possibly severe, with damaging wind, hail, and possibly a tornado.

That is all we needed to hear, to make some changes in our travel plans. We had originally planned to be in Hannibal on April 11th, then changed to April 9th to help out with the care of our grandkids.

Next, we changed to April 7th to help even more, and now we plan to arrive on April 6th, even with our delays for weather.

The front will pass through today, and tomorrow we plan to travel to Checotah, OK, a six hour drive, and stay at a KOA 10 miles west on I-40.

On Saturday we will have a shorter drive of 3 ½ hours, to Carthage, MO, where we plan to stay at Coachlight Campground for one night.

Sunday, the 6th of April, we will drive the last leg of this journey to Hannibal. That will be another 6 hour drive but we then have time to set up during the following week.

So that is the plan!

It sure is nice to be retired and be able to make changes in the plans. We are flexible and find it easy to make safety the number one priority.

We walked around the resort, ending at the office to pay for another night here. We spoke with one of the owners who gave us a tour of the facilities here.

Our thoughts were “What a great place for a Rally!

They have over 100 RV spaces, nearly all are 50 amp service, FHU, pull through Sites, an 18 hole Miniature golf course, another 18 hole Par 3 Golf Course, Swimming Pool, Many small Cabins, very nicely furnished, and a great, new building for groups, with a Kitchen, Large Floor Area, Restrooms, and a Stage.

That same building has a large covered patio with tables and chairs. There is a Camp Store and lots of neat places to sit, relax, and visit.

The owner was telling us that there are restaurants which cater meals, bands for entertainment, etc, nearby.

They hold frequent Bluegrass Festivals here at the RV Park.

In fact Marilyn took lots of pictures so I will show them to you.

This place (Mitchells, RV Resort) is just two miles from the tiny, North Texas town of Perrin, on Hwy 281, north of Mineral Wells.

You folks might consider stopping here if you travel this way.

So that is it for today folks.

We’ll be back on the road tomorrow.

Life is Good!
