RV Travel Sometimes means Repair.
Mar 25, 2014
|Our Motor Home is equipped with a Hydronic Heating System, which heats water to provide heat as well as a continuous supply of hot water. The unit is a older one, and I noticed a boiler leak during our last inspection. . It was also inspected by 2 different inspectors whose opinion was to replace it. The leak is at the connection between the steel boiler and the cold water inlet.
The original connection is proprietary and is made by welding a copper bushing into the steel tank. This bushing has a smaller copper sleeve where the PEX connection is made. This is the area where the leak was occurring.
Since the old unit and the newer unit weight about 170 lbs I gathered some assistance to do the job.
It takes about a day and the pictures will tell the story. Hope you enjoy. The new system is working great. You can check the Aqua Hot web site to get a overview of the operation of the Hydronic Systems. If your interested the model we installed is the AHE 450 DE4. The original unit was the Hydro Hot Model 525 with the Beckett Burner. FYI this type of system is also available for Trucks and 5th Wheel RV’s

Thanks for riding along with us. Sometimes you can travel a long time and not have to repair anything. Like a home or car sometimes you need to turn a wrench.
Have a great week and best of Hot Water and Heat to all of you
