For our last day in Brasilia, we went to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for a public tour at 10:00.
The tour guide struggled a little with English; luckily Ana helped her when necessary. This building is where delegates sign treaties and are guests of the Brazilian government. It was significant for us to see as Ana is studying Foreign Affairs at university and may one day be employed here.
Another of Oscar Niemeyer buildings, it had much wide open space and many embedded details. The staircase was truly impressive!!!! Of remarkable note, on the second floor, were bullet holes in the glass from a protest last year.
After that we visited the Cathedral where there is a blessed replica, by Pope John Paul II, of Rome's La Pieta. The stained glass here was nothing less than phenomenal. It has been my absolute favourite structure.
Tomorrow morning we take Milton with us to Recife; and Ana will join us on Wednesday.
