I had a lot of fun here at the Waianapanapa State Park. I could have spent much more time here. It had several hiking trails. One trail was a half mile loop that went to two caves with fresh water pools. It had a sandy beach, rocky ledges, bird watching and most importantly, a nice bathroom. It also had a shower to clean off the sand from the beach. There was plenty of parking here.

There is a story about the Pools at the Caves. Supposedly a princess was killed there and the pools turn red once a year to commemorate that. Actually the water turns red because baby shrimp hatching at the same time each year create that phenomenon.
