Football Stadium In Santander

Santander Lighthouse

Lakeside Aire

Another really lovely day with warm sunshine all day long. It was cold at 6am when we used the camp site showers, the water was hot but it was cold getting back to the motorhome with our breaths clouding as we walked.

After yesterday's performance I gave Ethel, the SatNav a right old talking to & put her on overnight charge to get battery up to full. She certainly performed better today with no misdirections & no cut outs en route. The mountain scenery was really spectacular as we headed East parallel with the coast. We made one stop to fill up the LPG bottle which was getting low. It took just over 6ltrs & cost €5.15 so nice & cheap.

We reached the outskirts of Santander at lunch time so found a big car park beside the main football stadium & parked up there for the afternoon. After lunch we headed up to the nearby headland to have a look at the lighthouse at the top & to log a couple of geocaches in the process. Some lovely views down over Santander & the adjacent beaches.

We ended the day at an Aire about 15 miles South of Santander, overlooking a lake & next door to a wildlife park. We saw lots of deer & some water buffalo but the elephants had gone into their shed for the night. Might get to see them tomorrow before we move on.

Mileage to date - 3686
