Ed & Marilyn 'The Happy Wanderers' travel blog


It makes me feel good to have the blog “back on track”.

I prefer to write each day, about the events of that day, and then post the blog in the evening.

Today was a fun day, beginning in the morning, after coffee and chores were finished off.

Marilyn & I drove to the Basilica in San Juan, to purchase tickets for the 3rd annual Mariachi Concert, which will be on Feb 21st at 7:00 PM. That will be fun and very enjoyable for sure!

Heinz & Irene, Ron & Verna, Mike & Sandy, along with Marilyn & I will join the hundreds of people attending this concert.

We returned with tickets in hand and look forward to that event.

After lunch, Heinz, Ron, and I drove to the Pool Hall and were joined by Owen, for some fierce competition at the game of “Eight Ball”.

By the time we finished, the outdoor temp was in the low 70’s in the sunshine, so Heinz, Ron and I sat outdoors sipping a cold beer and discussing all sorts of things about places we have been, places we want to go, things to do, food we love, etc, etc, etc.

We discussed plans for tonight and for tomorrow.

Tonight, Heinz & Irene, Ron & Verna, and Marilyn & I, are going to visit the Estero Llano Grande State Park and World Birding Center for a “Ranger-Led” night walk. You can look this place up on the internet.

Then, tomorrow, the same couples, along with Owen & Jay, are going back to Padre Island, to show that nice place to Ron & Verna, who have not visited that Island before.

We plan to have lunch at “Dirty Al’s” and then spend time on the beach listening to the waves and the seagulls.

The weather is forecast to be sunny skies and temperatures near 80, so weather should not be a factor.

Hopefully, my trusty photographer will have photos for me to upload and share with you dear readers.

I’m sure that a stop at Reyes Seafood will be on the agenda also, so that we can bring some delicious seafood home for later.

Speaking of that, Marilyn cooked up some jumbo shrimp for a huge shrimp cocktail, which I plan to enjoy with leftover southwest pork, green chili stew tonight, for dinner.

Oh yeah, Life is Good!
