Seafood and The Beach
Jan 20, 2014
|A fun day with friends was in the works for today.
Jesse & Ginger , as well as a friend from Las Vegas, Carol Lee, rode with Mike & Marian. Bob & Janet picked me up at the Ford dealer in Weslaco, where I had dropped off Marilyn’s car for some warranty work.
We then returned to the RV at Llano Grande to pick up Marilyn, load a couple of lawn chairs, and a cooler with some drinks.
Then we were off, headed to South Padre Island for some great seafood and time on the beach.
The weather was fantastic with sunny skies and a temperature in the high seventies.
We gathered at “Daddy’s” which is now owned by the same folks who own “Dirty Al’s”.
We decided to try the food at Daddy’s because we like Dirty Al’s so much. The shrimp, fish, and oysters are great!
We sure enjoyed being with Bob & Janet again.
I wanted to begin the meal with oyster shooters but they didn’t have them, as they do at Dirty Al’s.
We settled for a dozen oysters on the half shell before the rest of our friends arrived.
The shrimp, fish and oysters were all enjoyed by our group of friends and then we drove to the beach.
At the beach we set up lawn chairs and sat together with the breeze, the sand, the sunshine, the sound of waves crashing on the beach, the seagulls hovering above, and the fine company of good friends.
That is the makings of a perfect day.
We all stopped at Reyes Seafood Market on the way home, to purchase more of that great shrimp and oysters for eating later.
Bob & Janet dropped us off at our little rolling condo, then stopped to say hello to Heinz & Irene and Ron & Verna, who were sitting together at Heinz & Irene’s place.
Marilyn & I grabbed chairs and walked over to join these friends for a few minutes.
More fun and laughter resulted as we talked about upcoming events and fun things to do while we are all here in the RGV this winter.
It was a fine day for sure, and that makes it easy to say that Life is Good!
